why we exist.

Some live with pain, quietly. Others care for those around them and go unseen. Too many are told to wait, manage, or cope without real support. But care shouldn’t depend on luck, and health shouldn’t be determined by status.

The Kiinship Initiative is for those told “not yet,” “not eligible,” or “not covered.” We provide no-cost exercise physiology to people with a Low Income Health Care Card and a valid care plan from their GP.

No judgement. No gap fees. Just care that’s practical, personal, and ready to meet you where you are.

  • What’s a Medicare care plan?
A Medicare care plan (often called a GP Management Plan or Team Care Arrangement) is a plan your doctor creates to help manage a chronic or ongoing health condition. It outlines your health needs, treatment goals, and the services you’ll receive from different healthcare providers. If you’re eligible, your GP can refer you for up to five Medicare-funded allied health sessions per year — including exercise physiology.
  • What if I don’t have a Low Income Health Care Card?
Right now, the Kiinship Initiative is only available to people who hold a valid Low Income Health Care Card. If you don’t have one, you won’t be able to access the program just yet — but we’re working to expand it in the future so more people can get the care they need. You can still access exercise physiology through a Medicare care plan from your GP, which provides a significant rebate off each session. If you think you might be eligible for a Low Income Health Care Card, you can check the requirements and apply through Services Australia.
  • Can I choose which location I visit?
Yes. You’re welcome to book at whichever of our clinics suits you best; Carlton or Ashburton. Both locations offer the same Kiinship Initiative services, so it’s simply a matter of what’s most convenient for you.
